Robert Cohen, AIA, NCARB
Robert Cohen is a licensed architect in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and has been practicing for over sixteen years. After graduating from Cooper Union, Robert Cohen gained extensive experience at the renowned firms of Edward Larrabee Barnes and Cossutta Associates, working on prestigious projects such as Cityplace Center and the Armand Hammer Museum.
In 1990 he established his own firm, Robert Cohen Architect. His projects are wide ranging, from urban design and master plans for city sites; to residential, commercial and institutional design; to interior and furniture design patents and prototypes. Robert Cohen Architect is currently working on unique residential projects, both new and renovation and addition projects in Southern Connecticut. He is also completing a center for dance study in Brooklyn, NY.
For ten years Robert Cohen was vice president of the Bay Improvement Group, a non-profit waterfront development corporation. In 1992 he was named Honorary Fellow of the Municipal Art Society of New York. In 1998 the Arts & Business Council honored him for his work with an emerging dance company with its Volunteer for the Arts Award. He is a consultant to the New York Foundation for the Arts Technical Assistance Program, and has served as guest critic at the City University of New York School of Architecture, and at the New York School of Interior Design.
A member of the AIA Connecticut chapter, Robert Cohen is active with the New Canaan Historical Society. He sits on the Westport Next Workforce Senior Housing Sub-Committee and is raising his family in Westport, CT.
